Hi Guys, I picked these up for a song at Crisis 2015 in Antwerp. Can anybody give me clue what they might be? The first pick is 54mm total height figures and the rest of them are 45mm total height. Anyone know what manufacturere they are? Are they old or just cheap??

They look like vintage homecast figures. Probably from German made molds. Edit: a little research revealed that the ones in the first photo were from molds made by Gebruder Schneider |

Wow, reminds me of the illustrations for 'Vingtième Siècle.' ;->= Doug |

The figures in the first photo of homecasts are from Schneider moulds or Schneider replica moulds. The moulds are often quite expensive to buy if you can find them. The rest of the photos are of homecasts from Zinnbrigade moulds. The Zinnbrigade moulds can be somewhat expensive to buy depending on availability. They are are great fun to cast and be used to make a few different late 19th century armies. The figures are not worth much monetarily but will paint up nicely. Cheers TW |

Wow, thanks for all the info guys! I guess that's going to make it harder for me to put together a small collection to game with. I've always wanted to do an Edwardian era game with a small collection of figures just like this. Any advice on what would mix well with these? I'm off to buy some gloss enamel paint today to get started on these. |

You might look at Irregular Miniatures 'Deutsche Homage' ranges. I think they are 54mm but not really sure. |

I've looked at them -Irregular- in the past, unfortunately they have made a TERRIBLE "upgrade" to their website and they have no more product images available. It's a shame because I've bought a lot of the Marlburian range from them in 42mm and was VERY happy with the products and the service. : ( I'm still not really sure why this hobby is so ill served by vendors via the internet. |

You could always start searching eBay for the molds and cast them yourself. They do show up on occasion, though they usually do not go cheaply. |

Irregular's 42mm range contains suitable toy soldier figures and they also have the 42mm Deutsche Homage range in a more German toy soldier style. Spencer Smith has the Little Britons and Shiny Toy Soldiers ranges in 42mm. Cheers T W |

Thanks for all the info everyone. I have found some sites selling molds for about 40-50 euros. I also managed to find this seller in Germany who seems to be pouring his own for this range so I can expand it a bit: link But what about opponents now? I need a similar scale(40-42mm) force of French or British, or I guess maybe non-Prussian Germans. I'm not too keen on Irregular for this. Their soldiers all seem to be looking at their toes and actually don't have the same aesthetic as the Zinnbrigade. |
