For a bit more on the development of the new Pickett's Charge ACW rules please see the thread over on the General de Brigade site.
link A group of hardened gamers played a scenario depicting the Confederate attack upon the Peach Orchard on day two of Gettysburg ruthlessly exposing any gaps in the rules and ruthlessly exposing my limited generalship! DB |

Dave, mate, you do remember "Pickett's Charge" was a disaster, right? :o) |

It was anything but a disaster for the Army of the Potomac. |

Can you give an indication of the basing (including skirmisher requirements) for the rules? I have been painting up a bunch of 28mm minis, and wanting to use them for Longstreet, Black Powder and Pickett's Charge. Wanted to make sure that I get the basing sorted before I actually base my painted miniatures. Cheers Darren |

Love the scenery – is that towelling? |

P, There is no base size requirement for Pickett's Charge. The game does not rely on a distinct figure scale as one "base of figures" in the game simply represents 80 men, so how many figures you put on base is down to you! If your current basing has more or less figures then simply presume that each base represents 80 men regardless of the physical number of figures. A suggestion only is: – 15mm to 20mm per 28mm figure mounted in two ranks, with four figures to a base. (Skirmishers – use the upper end of the scale or slightly larger for dedicated sharpshooter units, etc.) Hope that helps. DB P.S. UFB – yes the terrain was dyed towelling of various sorts. |

Dave, What are the chances of Pickett's Fifteen Minute Walk and Fence Climb being available at Salute? |
David Brown | 25 Feb 2016 7:53 a.m. PST |
T, We'll have a 28mm Antietam game demo'ing the rules – you're welcome to command a regiment or two or even a brigade! DB |

Thanks DB, I'll certainly be over for an eager look and a chat but taking up the kind offer of a command would probably be followed be the not so kind insertion of a stand of 28mm Sassanid Clibanarii in a very uncomfortable place!!! The Dichotomy of Salute, how to put on a game and not be present at it! :o) |

Hey DB! I've just seen the floor plan for Salute and we are on diagonally adjacent tables! Plenty of opportunity to come over and poke around! See you on the 16th ! |

Will be holding a demo game using Pickett's Charge rules at Salute – come and see us on table GM06! We'll be having run through of some of the famous actions at Antietam, all in 28mm. If you feel like commanding a brigade or a few regiments to get a feel for the rules you're more than welcome! I'll post a full AAR post-Salute. DB |

Hi Dave, Sorry to say that my previous posting has been over taken by events and I won't be able come over and annoy you tomorrow as we have had to cancel due to illness. At least you will be spared the General Pickett jokes, as in "You know he wasn't at Antietam, don't you?" :o) Looks like I'll have wait till publication before seeing what you have been up to. Hope it goes well ! |
