Notice you are playing on a smallish table. Here is a suggestion. Obtain a number of "ocean squares" of uniform size sufficient to neatly cover your tabletop surface. I use 1.5 x 2.0 ft clear plexiglass rectangles for my table, with a blue felt beneath. When the ships come to "the edge of the world", simply re-arrange the squares to put the ships back to the center of the table.

The only tricky bit is to make sure that all squares occupied by ships remain in the same positions relative to one another. Works very nicely for us.
