Hi all, While I would love to do ancients wargaming in 28mm, and have thousands of figures, the reality is that I dont have the space!
So here we have our first proper game of to the strongest using my Impetus based 10mm Britons and Romans. Played out on a mere 4ft x 3ft table. The armies still look like armies, and I think the mass effect with the 10mm stuff looks pretty good. (especially the deep warband units!) Heres a link to my blog where there are more pics and a bit of a report – link Cheers for looking! Steve |

They look great! I reckon army level games look better in the smaller scales – units look like a real body of men. (You can achieve that in 28mm as well of course, but most don't and the units look a bit thin and scrawny as a result). |

I agree, this looks great. I wouldn't spend any more time thinking that your missing out in any by not having 28mm. To me this is more inspiring than 28mm as it's more readily achievable. |

Quite inspiring – are those on 80mm frontage bases? Pendraken figs? |

Thanks for the interest, yes, they are on 80mm frontages. The Romans are Pendraken figures, and the Britons are a mixture of Pendraken and Irregular 10mm. Steve. |

Looking good yorkie o1! I have a similar problem. Most of my armies are also in 28mm (a few thousands of figs), but my table at home is max 4' x 8'. Which would be great for larg(ish) 15mm battles, whatever the rules used. Luckely, there is also a clubhouse a few kms from my doorstep. |

Yep. That looks pretty awesome. |

Wassland, you could definitely play To the Strongest on an 8x4 in 28mm using a 150mm grid and 120mm wide units. I designed it to give a good game even on a 6x4. Best, Simon |

The figures look great. Like it. Chariots look good at that scale too. |

The good thing about TtS is that you could indeed have a cracking game at 28mm on a standard 4 x 6ft table, all I have done is reduced things because of space. I have nothing against 28mm, if you have the space then it will look awesome indeed. Theres plenty of plastics about these days too so price isnt quite the barrier it once was. Anyway, Happy gaming! |

I like that … good rules are not scale specific … Phil |
