Very nice work. Lovely basing as well.

It's a thing of beauty. But if it was me, I'd be wearing a white plume. That's just me. Great figure.

Thanks for your comments guys!

The color of the crest was a big dillem… I've found several sources showing a black crest and others showing a red crest. However i haven't found one with white crest…

Plume is a column of feathers, worn vertically, to one side of the helmet…it means the wearer is on the staff.

A crest is a fluffy thing, made of fur, and worn, fore and aft, along the top of the helmet. I had never imagined anything but red for Carabiniers….but then, I must admit, Perrys show him with a black crest…as did Historex. Mind you, the light blue uniform……I thought senior occifers only turned out in the white rig. I can well imagine common sense and economy dictating otherwise, on campaign, however. Again previous discussion here says correct. Search for General Carabiniers….

I am profoundly ignorant on this unit. I complained about Perrys' plastics using the square portmantaeu, but am assured that is possible. I always thought round with a grenade on the end faces.

If only someone would do them properly, in metal. Perry plastic heads are far too slender. Front Rank are beautifully cast and appropriately chunky, but leaning back so far that they must be watching out for Stukas. I simply cannot use the figures I bought….however much I admire the superb moulding quality. They are ridiculous. A neglected unit…….

Knotel also has a picture of carabiniers General of brigade as portrayed.

and there are also many other references to the same uniform such as in Histoire & Collections volume on the Carabiniers.

I like the dark blue uniform as a contrast against the white for the later armored carabiniers. Nice Job BTW.

Great brush work. Is this a front rank figure by chance?

Blue Max04 Feb 2016 9:44 a.m. PST
