A project for next year is the Moro Rebellion in 15mm. I was wondering if anyone else did this period and what rules you use. Thanks

Hi, which figs are you using?

Thanks,

John

The Moro Rebellion Range from Bloodaxe Miniatures.

I was very impressed with their WWI range, so I expect their Moro Range to be just as good.

Hi, I have looked at that range when I was preparing to do the Moro Rebellion. However, the Moro's simply did not look very good in the images I saw. I was prepared to dive into this period. I REALLY wanted to like that range of figs. Maybe it's the pics I saw? I'd be VERY happy to be wrong about this, since I am very interested in the period.

Thanks,

John

There's always those old standbys GASLIGHT, or The Sword and the Flame.

There was a Moro game at Colonial Barracks IV using TSATF, based on the climactic battle in The Real Glory, ajuramentado catapult and all.

Heliograph #30 had a Sword and Flame variation for the US in the Philippines. Contact me at Burker1 (at) aol (dot) com if you would like to order a copy of that issue (I'm the back issues editor for The Heliograph).

Of course I am biased, but I typically use GASLIGHT for my 25mm Moro games. TSAF is also a good choice.

There is a variant for the Moro wars for TSATF called "The Sword in the Philippines" (TSITP) link . You have to have TSATF to play TSITP.

I've used what ColCampbell cites, the TSATF variant.

Works pretty well.

John, the pictures on the web site do not do the figures justice. The WWI are well sculpted, and come clean with very little flash. Even the bottoms of the castings are filed smooth. They are also very easy to paint, and look great once painted. A very easy company to deal with. Before you write them off, you should order a sample pack and see what you think.
I do not know why I did not think of TSATF myself. Thanks for the input.

Crow Bait, you've had good service from Historifigs? Recently? The only reason I ask is that I'M very attracted to their Ancient Hawaiians and I've hesitated to place an order, as I've heard so little about the company. Any input would be much appreciated!

Crow Bait21 Dec 2015 9:55 a.m. PST

Yes, I have had excellent service from them. I have placed and received two orders from them recently. I have one order placed That has just shipped. Communications via email with them has been very good. In all cases, he lets me know if he has the figures on hand, or has to cast some. Then when everything is ready, he let me know they were ready to ship, then after he shipped them, he let me know they had shipped and how much it cost. Again, I could not ask for better customer service. All three orders have been over the last 3 months, with our last communications coming last night. So it is very recent. I personally would not hesitate to recommend their products and service. I have never met them or affiliated with them in any way, just a happy customer.

That is very impressive indeed. Thank you kindly for taking the time to reply.

Hmmmmm…

Daryl,
Again, one point if I may. As part of my last order, I asked for a special order. I wanted the mortars from the WWII set without the crew so I could use them with my WWI figures, using the Artillery crewmen as mortar crewmen. I told him I was willing to pay the full price for the mortar crew set. Last night he informed me by his email, that he had included the mortars at no cost. He also included some newly cast figures for me at no cost, simply because I had that range. And since I had ordered some of his interwar vehicles, he also threw in a Panhard Armored car at no cost. A lot of people do include sample items with their product. Every order I have made with Irregular Miniatures, another great customer service company, has included free terrain items. I really appreciate that kind of service, and remain a loyal customer because of it. Again, I don't know the guy and I just started doing business with him a few months ago, but his miniatures are very good quality, his prices are very reasonable, and his customer service is excellent.

I can't speak to the Moro range but have seen the WW1 range in person. I like them, they have a somewhat crude, retro feel. They do paint up well, although I can understand that they may not be everyone's cup of tea. I prefer their infantry over their mounted figures.
