Which was the most ubiquitous aircraft of WWII? In other words which aircraft served in most theatres of war – the theatres being: North-West Europe, Eastern Europe, North Africa and Italy, the Middle East, Burma and the Far East and the Pacific? My list of aircraft that served in all of these theatres is: 1. Dakota 2. Catalina 3. B-25 Mitchell 4. Boston/Havoc 5. Thunderbolt 6. Spitfire. Please add to the list if you can think of any aircraft that I have missed. |
