I dragged out my old copy of Arthur C. Clarke's classic "Against the Fall of Night" the other day and re-read it for the first time in many years. Still a good read. How many other stories are set BILLIONS of years in the future?

But the irony is that while I'm reading about a society which had so perfected the design of their machines that they pretty much last forever, the physical book I was reading--a mere 60 years old--was literally disintegrating in my hands!

Enjoy your "book", man-thing! Your puny synaptic fleshball and primitive physical manipulators and optics are unable to comprehend the amazing technology of the year FOUR HUNDRED BILLION!

A physical book? You mean, like a printout?
