Are the above rules hex-based, does anyone know? If so, can they be used 'free-move' style without hexes? Thanks.

Hex-based, TR. Don't see any reason they couldn't be modded into a hexless design though.

Someone claimed they were 'free form', but I was pretty sure they were hex. At the same time, I did say MOST conversions use a bunch of sixty degree turns, which still feels the same.

Also, had to admit the non-hex Federation Commander had turn templates. I'll grudgingly admit it's possible to fly hexless and FEEL hexless. ;->=

Yeah, that was me--sorry! I was mistaken; I convert most stuff to non-hex anyway and sometimes forget what the original rules call for.

They ARE hex based, but as others have said, can be converted.

Also the hex rules have a 12 point variant so you could run it with 30deg templates and lose a lot of the hex feel.
