BP rules are in inches. We do a straight swap for cm, so we don't have to convert/multiply/divide. This gives as MUCH bigger table on a standard 4x6 (reckon we get 1mm to the yard at this scale, given the distances etc the rules use, so a mile width, where as inches would only give us 720 yards)
Thinking of making a 'Travel set', using magnetic sheet, flat pieces etc. (pieces would be mounted on vinyl floor tiles to give thickness
It has to travel easily, take up minimal room. I'm thinking a slim box file – about 30mm high, A4 size. 4 A4 sheets joined like a board game making it A2 when opened out. 420mm (width) x 594mm (height)- 16.5inches x 23.4inches.
I'd make rulers marked off in the rules graduations – 6, 12, 18, 36, so no converting from the QR sheet
If the table was a scale 4x6", that means 1/3 scale I think – 4" = 12 in the rules, or 4cm = 12 in the rules for our cm conversion.
What do people think is the smallest I could go, and the game still be playable from a 'fingers' point of view? Smallest measured distance is 6 in the rules (close range). Infantry move 12, Cavalry 18. Unit frontage 12-15.
