Anyone else see this? I went in with fairly low expectations and was quite surprised. The poor dubbing is the most noticeable but I overcame. Gogol, witches, Cossacks, horror, quite an interesting brew. Reminds me of Vidoq, Gilliam's Brothers Grimm, Hansel & Gretel: Witchhunters and much else. Just watched it. Story is a bit complicated and it's a sequel to an original story, plus new interpretation of an original story. It's worth watching 1960's version to get a good perspective of a new film. Images are great and casting is excellent. I would give it 4 out of 5 stars. |
