Hi A few weeks ago I got a advance copy of the upcomming rules in the Osprey wargaming serie Dragon Rampant by Daniel Mersey. I thought I should try to give objective an review of the rules and you can find it at my blog. Best regards Michael

Osprey should employ you in their marketing department. Great review, made me really interested. How many figures per side for an average or a bigger battle is needed in your opinion? Thanx. |

Haha… glad to be able to influence;) the number of minis are hard to say as it all depends on what kind of warband you are planing to filed. But for example if i would filed the Borderland warband in the review, as a average 24 point warband, I probably would filed it like this: 1 Forest troll Wise Old Shaman @ 8 points (1 single modell) 1 Forest Trolls @ 4 points (reduced model unit 3 models) 2 Goblin Moss-troopers with Mixed weapons @ 5 points each (2x12 models) 1 Goblin Ambushers @ 2 points (6 models) in total 4 Trolls and 30 Goblins |

Now that I've got my Dux Britanniarum forces off to a good start, I've been eyeing Copplestone's fantasy 15mm line and thinking about adding a "Hyborian" element to the period … the last of the legions confronts arcane beasts with dwarves at their side! It seems like this would be a great fit. |

My gaming group are big fans of Lion Rampant and we couldn't wait to order Dragon Rampant when notice appeared on Dan's website. We'll take an enjoyable, playable set of rules every time! |

I've seen pictures on Lion Rampant forum of some guys fielding quite huge armies. I guess one could do the same with this game as well. |

You can indeed field more than 24 points on each side, if you have the time to play 72 points a side work fine. |

I normally eschew skirmish games but this might get me to change my mind. If I wanted to run this as a convention game with 3 or 4 players per side and wanted it completed in under 4 hours (including rules explanations to newbies) how many points per play – probably the base 24? |

@ Dave Gamer We run our Stockholm 1392 game as Salute 2015 using the Lion Rampant rules with 4 players (2 on each side) all getting 2 units each (so onlu 8 points aside, but as it was a City battle we didnīt want much minis for each player as it was a closed are. during the day we run 4 games all about 45-90 minutes each with several newbies player. link Wen we run our Lion Rampant club campaign we use 12 point hoasts for each player and have 2-3 players on each side, more than that will get to confusing, the perfect number of players for me are 2 on each side with maybe 12-18 points of troops) a game like that will take about 90 minutes for experienced players and maybe 120-150 minutes for newbies. link The rules are so forgiving regarding basing so multibased minis work well. Hope you get good games out of the rules. best regards Michael |
