One of the great things about living in Japan is that there are lots of shops selling things that, with a little imagination, could be quite useful as wargaming accessories.

What are your best Dollar shop / hardware store / secondhand shop finds for 2015?

Mine were carpet squares in an appropriate shade of green for a wargame mat (as seen here…)

…and a thin rubber mat to use with kitchenware that also happens to be excellent for stopping cardstock board wargame maps sliding around on the table.

Both really useful, both unexpected finds, and both really cheap. Score!

Of course these successes are offset somewhat by the number of things I picked up thinking 'gosh, I can do something with that!' but after getting home found that the enthusiasm had waned a little…

How about yourselves? Any good scores in 2015?

Cheers,
Aaron

A $3 USD silicone mat meant for baking that was perfect for making roads and such: the caulk just peels straight off

My dollar store best was buying 19 8 inch tall robots for a buck each! Yeah, I would've bought more if they had 'em! Yeah, I still have to paint them up..

Then its time for MechaCarnage!
