I'm finishing my Christmas shopping and find myself a little short on disposable income for the mistress that is our hobby. I'm trying to console myself with the lead pile; it would probably take until Christmas 2016 to paint. Not that I could go that long without buying something else. Since you got into miniature wargaming, what's the longest you've gone without buying ANYTHING wargaming related? |

It depends on when in my life you are talking. Now, I usually hit my FLGS weekly, but I would say probably 2 months. And they noticed. |

If you count RPG stuff as wargaming then from about 1987-1995… If you don't then 1978-1995…. Mike |

I am in the middle of it right now. My last wargaming purchase was in May, still nothing bought. Probaby spending $2.50 USD this weekend, I have been saving my loose change. |

Discounting a couple of years when I more or less left the hobby in the early 2000s, it's probably 6 months or thereabouts. In good years I can easily be a weekly shopper, bad ones every month or two as a rule, but occasionally longer. Must admit I've bought very little this year, but there have been a few odds and ends scattered across the calendar, with Frostgrave making for a noticeable uptick in the last few months. |

Probably about a year Right now I am concentrating on finishing off projects so except for paint and bases I am not buying any minis – the last minis I got were a swop from a fellow TMPer |

A year or two. When I was in my 20s, I gamed much less than I do now. |

Not long enough according to my bank statements. |

Months – HMGS East cons are where my principle purchases occur but I fill in from Michael's or Dollar Tree or PetSmart (jungle foliage) or Amazon for books/rules. Occasionally I'll order from Europe in between there. |

if you even count very small purchaces, like a brush or a bottle of paint, then at least every month. |

When the family was young I probably went nearly 10 years without any major purchase. No money spare and little or no time to do more than read the odd magazine or borrowed set of rules. I did still had stuff to paint that came out once or twice a year got looked at, sorted and an hour or two of painting and then went back in the box. Now it is probably no more than 2 months – but not always large things, often just a few packs of 10mm figures or a sample of something that catches my eye and I'll never add to. |

A couple of months, for anything like paint, longer for figures, say four or five months. Generally I buy something small every month but I don't have much of a lead pile. |

When the children were small, about 3 years. Longest period in the last 5 years, about 6 months. |
FusilierDan | 11 Dec 2015 3:29 p.m. PST |
I never kept track but 6 months is about right. I doubt it was ever any longer |

It would have been a couple of years in the late 90's and early 2000's. Since then the longest would be about 6 months. i always seem to be buying a bit of terrain here, some rules there and a few bargain minis. So the last few years would only be a few months between purchases. |

Probably 15 years and counting. (edit to add: Oh, "war game related", that covers a lot. I guess the last piece of terrain I bought was a cool ruined house, which is actually an aquarium centerpiece, but is wasted in that "venue" :). I bought it probably c. ten years ago.) |

Only magazines and an occasional new ruleset keep it from being years at a time. |

Lately it's probably weeks at the most. There was a period of a few years I bought nothing. |

I had a break of around 12 years back in the late 1980s and mid 90s. If you don't count board and computer games. |
skinkmasterreturns | 12 Dec 2015 7:31 a.m. PST |
It depends on if you are only counting figures.I usually buy paint or similar weekly, but it can be several months for figures,as I try to save for purchases. |

I took about a 5 year break around uni. |
