If she were it would be a definite "no-see". She was utterly talentless… |

Looks like it has potential. Hope they don't screw it up by trying to make it Lord of The Rings in the jungle or CGI-fest with no plot and crappy acting. There's a good Tarzan movie waiting to be made somewhere… |

Looks like he's fighting Belgians-looks like it is done right. |

Wow trailer looks really good. Glad they don't have the Rock playing Tarzan. |

Tarzan movies have been made in every decade since the beginning of film, with the possible exception of 2000-2009 (though Disney made two DVD sequels to their animated hit during this decade). He's more of a film staple than James Bond and Robin Hood. There's *always* a Tarzan film in the works. |

It looks like there might be African American bad guys! Oh dear. |

Samuel L. Jackson as a bad guy might make a nice change of pace, given his current good guy streak. |

There are some elements that look faithful to the original "Tarzan of the Apes" novel. I hope it is, but nobody has done one yet, so I suspect that they'll mess with the plot. |

"It looks like there might be African American bad guys!" There are going to be some pretty non-PC scenes if they stick to the novel. There are *no* good Blacks depicted as far as I can remember. The worst, I guess, are the torturing cannibals. It should be interesting to see if they allow Tarzan to hang a guy from a branch and stab him to death! |

Why is he wearing pants?? I went back and watched the trailer again just to be sure. Guess loin cloths aren't politically correct? |
The Shadow | 16 Dec 2015 1:02 p.m. PST |
Tarzan is wearing pants because he eventually returned to England to claim is title of "Lord Graystoke" and became educated. In subsequent novels he was the ultimate adventurer. A civilized man who had the instincts and abilities of a wild animal. He even learned to fly a plane! Tarzan of the pulp magazines was absolutely *nothing* like the Tarzan of the movies. |
Triplecdad | 16 Dec 2015 6:32 p.m. PST |
No good Blacks? Hey, the Waziri were Tarzan's tribe, and were a noble set of battling loyal tough natives. Yes, Shadow, you are right about Lord Greystoke. As a kid, I absolutely hated the "stupid" Tarzan movies where the monkeys were smarter than he. In the books, he is smart and educated. |

>>Hey, the Waziri were Tarzan's tribe, and were a noble set of battling loyal tough natives.<< My bad! You are absolutely right , and don't know why I forgot. |
Triplecdad | 17 Dec 2015 5:05 a.m. PST |
Hey, what is bad is that I actually remembered the name of the tribe! I mean, I haven't read an ERB book in – gulp – 35 years! I had a paper route in a small, small town in northern Arizona. The nearest bookstore was about 90 miles away. I would save my money and when my mom would drive to that adjacent "city" of about 20,000 people, for groceries and shopping, she would drop me off at the store. I would buy what they had, which meant I read every ERB series in disorder, but I still have all those books locked away. There was simply nothing better than traveling to Mars or Africa or Pellucidar on the shoulders of Burroughs. Tarzan, of course, was the highest priority. Sorry, I guess I am getting old, but it is hard to describe the magic those books held for me. Obviously, though, the same is true for millions of others. I look forward to this movie. |

Triplcdad I hope you're not going to be disappointed. I looked at the coming attractions and I have a feeling that they took some parts from different books, and possibly stuck in some stuff that wasn't there in *any* of the books. For instance, the part that Samuel L. Jackson plays, George Washington Williams, is not a character in any of the Tarzan novels that I've read. It can still be a good flick, but it's not going to be totally ERB. |
