I'm doing a little research into what is available for evergreen trees for Germany, and wanted to see what's available, fairly realistic looking, and hopefully reasonably priced (inexpensive would be even better).
Looking for trees for 1/144th and 1/100th scales, with some that can do double duty for both scales.
I'd prefer those with a semi-realistic branch structure, and/or with long, thin branches emanating from the tree trunk, to represent that, and that are also a suitable dark green, or black green in color (unless that is wrong, but that seems to be what they look like in landscape photos to me).
Thinking about going with a 6" – 9"/10" size, which equates to roughly 72' – 120' tall in 1/144th, and 50' – 85' or so, in 1/100th.
Does that sound about right, size wise, for average trees for gaming?
I know they can grow a lot taller, especially for the 1/100th scale ones, but just need something that looks about right for average sized trees, without being too towering, for small groups, and for forests.
Any ideas on manufacturers, models, and sources?
I suspect model railroading shops, and/or eBay, perhaps.
Thinking about fir and spruce trees, but don't know what others are in Germany.
Also, are some of the woods/forests mixed with hardwoods like oaks, beech, etc. too, or are most evergreens?
Considering the Fulda, and Central German regions for these.
Thoughts?
