Inspired by my finding out that there'd been a battle in my home-town in 1643, I decided to set up a refight. Once again I used my paper figures from Junior General and a modified version of the One Hour Wargames rules.

Minimalist and interesting.

Absolutely brilliant, your 'have armies can travel' setup is fantastic, I enjoyed the whole AAR and look forward to your completion of the rules (hopefully with a strong solo player insert too :)
Cheers, nice one Kaptain happy gaming.

I GM'ed this battle, well a bit of a modified version, at a convention earlier this year using the "Carnage & Glory II" computer moderated rules. If you go to their yahoo site there is a pretty good scenario with OB.

Any rules I work on are solo-friendly, but I never create specific solo-rules. I am one of those people who just attempts to play both sides without favour.

Carnage & Glory is very "solo friendly". No re-rolling or fudging on dice rolls. While you are free to move your units as you please, mandatory moves are also generated by the computer based on morale and fatigue. There is no figure removal as the computer calculates all casualties so you don't always know the enemy's unit status at a glance. This makes it a great tool for setting up a solo battle and even allows you not to have to finish in one sitting since progress can be saved and remembered by the program.
