I own a big collection of Mex Rev figures and might be interested in this set but I'm wondering if anyone who owns it could answer this question:

The pics of the game I've seen show the figures all single mounted and my collection are mounted on group stands, 3 foot, 2 cavalry, and artillery/MG with crews attached. Can the game be played without singles stands?

They are an adaption of Crush the Kaiser Great War rules which assume rather than specify single bases but I use multi base figures and it's fine.

Very much like Rapid Fire . you can use bases of individuals . KIA's are usually greater than one once fired on .

At last, dedicated Mex Rev rules… and perfect for my individually based 28mm collection.

What size are units?

I presume the unit in the cacti is Yaqui. However, my reading suggests that only leaders had rifles before the reorganisation of winter 1914/15.

It looks like you've taken up my suggestion of a couple of years ago and included a Yaqui war-drums special rule. Well done.

Maybe it was in the description and I missed it but can one buy just this booklet and play the game or is this just a supplement and you have to own the Crush the Kaiser rulebook too. That may well be a deal breaker for me as right now I'm only interested in doing the Mex Rev not WW1.

I've just discovered the new Shellhole Scenics 20mm range: Yaquis, Federal irregular infantry, Federal dismounted cavalry, Mondragon 75mm guns, Hotchkiss 30mm cannon, improvised armoured truck… Full marks for comprehensiveness.

Of course there's lots more to do (e.g. rurales, Zapatistas), but between this range and EWM's this size might now have slipped ahead of 28mm as the go-to for Mex Rev; too late for me, but for newbies… You even have a choice of Federales in 1898 (EWM) or 1913 (Shellhole) tunic.

Naturally there are negatives: both ranges appear to have sculpted the 1913 pattern Federal caps too low/small,the EWM Federales in 1898 tunic and 1913 cap depict an historically improbable combination, there are no figures in Saumur kepi, etc. – but on the whole, especially with the advent of Achtung Gringo, it's an instant Mex Rev gamer's paradise.
