I just picked up the Age of Sigmar starter set and I have to say the miniatures are absolutely wonderful. When I looked to expand my force that's when it got a little less wonderful. The prices on the additional boxed kits is outrageous! Has anyone seen or used any miniatures from other suppliers that would pass for Stormcast Eternals (and not put me in the doghouse for spending so much!)

What about Chronopia Firstborn?

Why not just get a second boxed set? You can find them for about half price, that is about the cost of one set of the Sigmarites. You might not get all the variety but the Retributors can be converted to other types of Paladins easily enough. The conversion of the Prosecutors to shield and javelin armed isn't that tough either if you have some other loose bits around.

For characters you are a little less fortunate. The lord relictor can be converted to a lord lantern bearer or whatever they are called easily enough but I'm not sure what you will do with a second lord celestant.

Still at $65 USD or so you won't be doing too badly.

If you sell off the Khorne models you would be in even better shape cost wise, you might even be able to fund half a box of Judicators with them.

The only one of the boxed sets I'll probably be buying for a while is the Judicators. I have one set of them plus the boxed set and I have a strong suspicion (because I was the one that ordered it) that I'll be getting another starter set for either my birthday or Christmas.

I have not found any that match in aesthetics or size-wise.

Games Workshop has released a "Stormcast Expansion" which actually does offer some savings over buying the models individually. It has the Paladins, Judicators (bow guys)m, Prosecutors (winged guys) and the Lord Castellant (dude with Lantern Pictor Studios mentioned). eBay sellers and TheWarstore are selling it at discount, making the savings even better.

Hope this helps.

GW's recent boxed combination releases have actually been a good deal. The Stormcast Expansion mentioned above is something like 20% off – and if you get it from any of the online retailers like TheWarStore or Doc's DiscountGameStore you'll save another 20%+ on top of that.

The Stormcast models are the first GW models I had really purchased in years and despite the high price tag they are basically the finest engineered plastic kits I've ever assembled and the models are stunning. I normally dislike most GW nowadays but they hit a true homerun with the Stormcast models.

Cloudcaptain, nice suggestion :) I think that looking outside the box, in fantasy, is the best thing.
