This past weekend the boy and I played our first experimental test drive of the Black Ops ruleset. The rules are really written for modern and ultramodern games with only a passing nod at sci-fi, but they work great with my 15mm sci-fi figures.

We played a simple 50-pt head on fight between a small special forces unit and a larger unit of conscript soldiers. Here's a shot of two conscript troops and a heavy pinned down by heavy suppression fire (the three green beads).

And the special forces (Bombshell Minis figures) defending a large building:

Thanks for the write up, silly question where did you get the palm trees from?

Exactly right. You can build them tall like in Twilight Samurai's photo for big models. I built mine in smaller pieces to look more like bushes and shrubs in 15mm scale.

The big building is scratchbuilt from foamcore and cardstock with a granny grating roof. The smaller ones are small cardboard boxes purchased from the craft store for something like a buck a piece. The nice thing about them is they stack inside each other for ease of storage:

Looks like an interesting rule set. And your table looks very nice.

Thanks for sharing.

Looks like a fun game. we've used the black ops rule set at our gaming club and everyone likes the rules, especially the sections on stealth.

They also work really well for different periods, we have used them for both Vietnam and Sci-Fi.
