If you've bought FiveCore skirmish, company command or brigade commander, you will have a new PDF in your download folder on the Vault, called "Sage wisdom".

It's a little 5 page collection of additional explanations about the intentions behind the rules. Think of it as in-depth designer notes.
There's a few suggestions for tweaks as well, should you want them.

If you are interested in these notes but haven't bought the game, pop me a PM or email at runequester @ gmail.com and I'll send them your way.

Sage Advice, eh?

I thought that was your stage name ;)

You still haven't mentioned what you're working on…

And what happened to your monthly magazine things? I liked them, ergo, you need to keep doing them ;)

V/R,
Jack

Thanks Weasel!

Weasel30 Nov 2015 2:28 p.m. PST

It doubles as my rapper AND wrestling name. Don't ask what my porn star name is.

I had to take a break due to an overfull schedule. There will be a December issue :-)

Other than that, I am not working on anything …. ;-)
And if I did, I'm confident it won't have any swords.

What is your porn star name? My Santa's Little Helper name is Jingles the Naughty Snow Ball.

Thank you! Great stuff

Your welcome guys :)

Punk – I always thought "The Slippery Weasel" had a nice ring to it.

Wild Weasel would be better.

Weasel, Does this also apply to 5 Men in Normandy buyers?

Weasel30 Nov 2015 5:28 p.m. PST

I had actually forgotten but yeah, I'll add it there as well. The same principles generally apply.

Ivan,

I like it! But then, I would ;)

I have one quibble with your wisdom:

"When you read accounts of battles, you'll find troops being pushed back, regrouped and brought
forward, but it usually takes place over hours, instead of the relatively limited time we have on the
gaming table."

I heard that troops in platoon and squad-sized fights get pushed back, regroup, and counterattack in mere minutes, potentially several times in an hour. I know our little lead troopers like to stand and die in place, but I heard that's not as popular in real life.

I thought your porn name was "The Sweet Danish." Or was it "The Danish Sweet"?

V/R,
Jack

Good points Jack (and you know how much that pains me to say).

I was speaking more to brigade commander there, though I was phrasing more generically.

Thank you, I do have them now in my library from the Vault. You need to just add these inside the rules.

BTW, I have played 3 solo '5 Men in Normandy' skirmishes recently. I really like the rules. I especially like how you don't get to move all your squad.

The MG42 is very deadly (well 'shock'ing in the open). It has changed my tactics when conforting one.

Glad you had a good game and yes, those MG's will send your men crawling for cover :-)

Huron,

Are you solo fights posted anywhere? I'd love to see them.

V/R,
Jack
