Here are the first infantry 'greens' for my new cold war range and I am very pleased with them. They are the Soviet Airborne VDV infantry in winter BDU's. They are just as good for most Soviet Winter troops to be fair!

Armed with AK 's RPK's, RPG's, automatic grenade launchers, Mortars, Anti Air Missiles, Heavy HMG's and the armour of its BMD apcs and ASU 85 tank destroyers a force such as this dropped behind you rear will surely mess up your day!

These fine comrades will be finished over the next few days and fast tracked to ArmiesArmy HQ for moulding. Depending on Christmas etc….I hope to have them out in 2 – 3 weeks.

thanks

Keith

Outstanding!!! Winter uniforms is a perfect match for my description of the Scandahooligan front as the "Coldest War". I gotta find a way of painting whitewash that I like…

Now, about those Swedes… evil grin

Those do look good.

Will there be a helmeted option for the Winter troops as well?

Armiesarmy01 Dec 2015 7:46 a.m. PST

Cheers :)

The troops will include mixed helmets and hats

this is how I white washed mine

Simple light spray of heavily diluted white paint

Thanks, AA, I'll have to try that with a stippling brush, I don't have an airbrush.

Good news is that I should be able to whitewash each platoon of tanks differently for unit ID…

I would have preferred non winterised VDV, but I can see you're leaning towards your Scandinavian scenario's

Armiesarmy01 Dec 2015 3:18 p.m. PST

Winterised is simply trying to do something different to what others have done and will extend. Competing with FOW / QRF is tough. These guys can be used as soviet infantry forces as much as VDV with a few additional weapons options

Lion different is cool!

Ps

All my figures are dollies….I can make whatever people want :)
