Nice write-up – the smaller scale models really work well there. |

Yes, a nice AAR. Always good to see IABSM in the scale that the rules match. Some of those terrain techniques look familiar. Mark |

Great batrep, thanks for posting. I have that scenario book too, need to find time to play it! V/R, Jack |

That is a nice scenario for France 40 also. Hope to see more from you Mark |

Thanks Vaggelis, great AAR. I'm just starting our with IABSM (with Operation Crusader). I really like the idea of some scenarios around the retreat to Dunkirk – great idea. Well done the 1st Searchlights! Thanks for sharing. |

I have a large 1/285 collection of Second World War figures but I have never played IABSM. I know it is a company level game with 1:1 representation scale but can it be "bath tubed" so that 1 base = 1 platoon? Think I would need to do that to fight some of the larger battles I would want to represent in Normandy (Charnwood, Goodwood, Totalize) |

you could but it would take some effort. IABSM tracks casualties of individual men, so you'd have to figure out the math and a new system to abstract removing a platoon rather than a man. |

Thanks, sounds a rather awkward, plus my figures are based in groups of 4 or 5. In that case I think I would be better off using a rule set designed for larger actions (Battalion and Regimental level)like: Spearhead, Test of Battle (CD IV) Micro Armour the Game or Kampfgruppe Commander III. |

Quite a good AAR. Your board set up was quite inspiring. I can see many of Mark's (Microbiggie's) techniques involved. I too am a student of his terrain methods. Because I understand the approach and can see how you have done things, this AAR is not only inspirational but instructional for me as well. I also like your scenario. I know it is from a supplement, but I'd be interested to know just how much detail was in the scenario as published, and how much you filled in to get to the game as it was set up on your table. Also, if I may ask, I can recognize many of the models, but not the bus. I'm looking at it, and thinking it might even be a wooden (or other material) block with printed paper applied. I'd be interested to know more about this particular piece. Overall, a great looking game, and a well constructed scenario that played out in convincing style. No suspension of disbelief needed for me to follow the actions described in the AAR and imagine it as an actual historical event. (Which, with my way of gaming in mind, is high praise!) -Mark (aka: Mk 1) |
