I recently discovered an issue with the Armourfast Cromwells I was attempting to build. The multi-part turret that comes on the sprue does NOT match that shown on the instructions. Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions? I can be more descriptive of the problem, but it is wordy….LOL. Any help or do I just give up, throw away and start building the Revell kit instead? Thanks. |

If you build the turret that's on the sprue, what do you get? |

What's the difference? Armourfast is a bit soft detail-wise:
Revell:

Ditto Tango – Thank you for the reply. I do build models. I was in need of fast-build Cromwells which is why I chose this particular one. There are inconsistencies with the directions and the kit. I PM'd you to spare everyone else of my misery… Thank you. |

I have the kit, but have not tried to put it together yet. What was your experience ccmatty? |

I have built a few of the Armorfast Cromwells, no problems and far easier than the Revell one. You do have to build the turret, and dry fitting the pieces while comparing to photos can be helpful if you aren't sure e.g. which way round the sides go. |

I have just built the turret from the a/f Cromwell, the easiest way is to stick on the side panels and then slide the rear into place as the overhang of the side keeps it in place, then stick on the front face. you can just see the overhang in this pic:-
hope that helps. |

Shaun – it does help. Only the pieces in my kit do not fit along the sides of the turret as tightly as yours. I also want to be sure I am not bat s**t crazy. The directions on the box do not match the turret provided. Right? I guess I can glue the two side pieces over the side pieces that are molded on the turret and see how that goes. However, I don't think it is going to look great. There is a noticeable gap (there is a small one on yours as well just above the spare road wheel). Anyhow, thank you for the photo and can you confirm about the directions and your experience? |

I doubt you will ever see a tight join, there is a gap on mine, but being a gamer I tend to not worry about these things, the instructions are not very detailed but then again they are aimed at kids really. it is just we gamers tend to buy them. or cover it with our stowage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! good luck |

If you use Liquid polystyrene cement then just brush it into the gaps a few times and they will fill in and be less noticable. |

Don't give up! I have built one Revell Cromwell and two Armourfast Cromwells, and the later were a whole lot easier to build (even though they have a lot more parts than some of the earlier Armourfast kits). However, it has been a few years since I built them, so I cannot recall if I had any particular issues with the assembly. That turret certainly has a bunch of parts, but there are only so many ways that you can glue them together… |
