…ISIS 10 To 1. "Iraqi troops closing in on Ramadi outnumber Islamic State militants by as many as 10 to one, a U.S. official told Military Times on Friday. The offensive to wrest back control of the city involves between 8,000 and 10,000 Iraqi security forces, said Army Col. Steve Warren, a spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition overseeing the fight against the Islamic State group. No American military personnel are on the ground fighting alongside them, he said. Three U.S.-trained Iraqi brigades are participating in the operation, Warren said. They face between 600 and 1,000 well-entrenched Islamic State fighters…" Full article here link Amicalement Armand |

10-1 would/should be enough … but I feel with the Iraqis and their Persian allies even 10-1 might need to be increased … |

CNN said, Daesh will kill any civilians if they try to leave. They are now all hostages. The Iraqis government says they don't need any US help to recaptured this key town. And a news report for the region says the US must be allied to Daesh. As they are not doing anything or enough to stop them. Just like many there still believe the US and Israelis are responsible for 9/11. So we could invade. … how do you say that in Arabic ? It's been the mantra of many in the region. It's easier to blame the US. Instead of looking within to see their incompetent, corrupt, factionalized, government and military leadership. Is the root cause for their continuing military failures. And worthless governmental leadership that are the reasons for their failing or failed state status. For example the US/NATO wants to directly arm the Kurds. Not have to go thru the Iraqis. Well for a number of reasons the Iraqis supported by the Persians don't want to see this happen. But yet the Kurds are the only force in the region to effectively take the fight to Daesh. Again more reasons why the Iraqis and others in the region are in the situations they find themselves in. But it is easier to blame the US/West. |

Islamic State Prepares For The Iraqi Onslaught On The City Of Ramadi "Islamic State fighters are preventing civilians from fleeing the city of Ramadi—and threatening to kill those who try—after Iraqi forces warned people to leave ahead of an impending offensive, residents said Tuesday. Iraqi forces have been airdropping leaflets since Sunday warning residents to get out before they launch an operation to recapture the Islamic State stronghold. Residents said the extremist group, also known as ISIS, wants to use civilians as human shields. "ISIS is encircling us from all sides preventing us from leaving the city," said one resident. "We are desperate now. We can't do anything…We have sick people with no medicine and there is no food to eat," the man, who gave his nickname Abu Ahmed, said in an audio message sent to friends outside the city on Monday night. Islamic State snipers, among the few hundred fighters from the militant group left in the city, have attempted to block the government's designated civilian exit route through the southern end of Ramadi, according to Abu Ahmed who said he lives near the city center. He urged Iraqi forces to hasten the operation but be mindful of civilians when they enter the city…" Main page link YouTube link Amicalement Armand |

How can "600" effectives prevent anything in a city of many thousands? If the civilians turned on the IS "garrison" the moment that Iraqi forces attacked, it would be over in minutes…. |

How many months/years have they been planning for the attack to take back Ramadi now? I forget, since it seems like a very long time to me, despite periodic rhetoric that such an attack is "imminent", which then seems to be repeated again, six months, or so later. |
