Just posted an AAR on my blog for the scenario "Near Nepokrytaya '42" based on the 2nd battle of Kharkov in 1942. Here's the link…

link

For this scenario we tested out our new Panzergrenadier Warp 9 rules for the first time. They are our wargaming group's "unified" variant rules based on a mixture of about 80% Panzergrenadier Deluxe and Battlegroup Panzergrenadier 2nd Edition with the last 20% our own custom rules. For us they are working out just great so far and we are looking forward to using them with more scenarios in future.

Levering off of Deluxe, the basic Battlegroup Panzergrenadier game system still remains as our "go to" set of core rules for 15mm reinforced company and battalion level actions. But we needed to keep some things we still liked from 2nd Edition plus add in our own custom rules which take the game just a little further toward skirmish level, plus add some new features. We love to "tinker" with every set of rules and this one is worth it for the long run.

Any way, it's our thing and if any of you are interested, check out the AAR!

Best wishes to all for the upcoming holiday season!

Gary

thanks for that chapps. nice report and pics, I have a preference for Panzergrenadier 2nd ed, a good rule set and gives the right fell I think.

the arrows are very helpful

my only and best advice would be to invest in so better terrain. mean to say, even just buying so trees would really make your table "pop", so to speak.
it does look like a fun game otherwise, and your miniatures are nicely painted.

Thanks to all for your comments!

Miniaturerealm – Yeah, Panzergrenadier 2nd Ed has a lot going for it. The feel of it was what originally got me.

Simo Hayha – the arrows are added in with Photoshop Elements.

john lacour – So far I've mostly invested in buildings, hedges, walls, & fences. I stand in awe of the terrain created for many of the AARs on TMP, but find myself more interested in game play and scenario creation. Representing woods & bushes has always been a dilemma for me. Too much foliage and it limits placement of the minis. It would be easier with individual basing but I use stands. Actually the minimalistic depiction of woods works well since you can see for sure where the edge is and move the trees around, but as you suggest it wouldn't hurt to add more "moveable" trees to the woods areas to improve the overall effect. Thanks.

Ditto Tango – Glad to hear from a fellow "tinkerer". The overhead photos are taken with me standing on a chair, then using Photoshop Elements to square it up using the Transform/Skew option. We play with 15mm figs originally based for FOW and I quite like the feel of that scale on the table. The Panzergrenadier rules system are mainly for 15mm or 20mm but apparently work for other scales. We play with 15mm distances for movement, but the 15mm weapon ranges felt too short so we use 20mm distances for our weapon ranges. And this scenario's pre-game "suppression test" barrage is just something I added in. There are good rules (2nd Ed) for Opening Bombardment, Rolling Barrage, Pre-registered Target, etc. but they are template based and I wanted a "whole area" effect.

Thanks for your interest. – Gary

Gary, i ment no disrespect. Like i said, just a few trees and whatnot would make your table look abit better.
The game looked fun. And your paint work is very nice.

No problem, John! I just tried lots of trees on one woods mat and it does look better. I'll be heading over to my local hobby store for a bunch of tree & bush armatures and some foliage. Thanks for the input! – Gary
