Just came across this painting by Meissonier of a Huguenot.

Looks to be wearing a mix of 16th & 17thC costumes. The shortened cassock, while very stylish, appears to be more like those worn in the 1630s (?).

If Daniel Staberg is lurking, I'm sure he'll set me straight on this. :)
