My "Black Friday" purchase was a BladeRunner x2 from Rockwell for light work such as trimming molding, cutting vinyl tiles and oh yeah balsa and basswood cutting. Nice little setup, essentially an upside power jigsaw, using the same blades as a jigsaw, with a table top and guides for cutting. Much quicker than a miter box and hacksaw. It is coming in very handy for making some movement trays for a project I am working on.

Out of curiosity does the guard need to be lowered for the saw to work? If not, please make sure you use it with the guard down. It looks like an easy way to loose a finger. Safety guy talk over.

Blade runs with the guard up so yeah it pays to be careful.

So it does make accurate cuts? I've been hankering for a table saw to cut out 1"-square bases from vinyl peel-n-stick floor tiles, but 1"-square cuts are a bit dangerous on a 10" table saw… I stick two tiles together, to strengthen them, for use as both custom bases, and for movement trays, but cutting them accurately is a challenge. Cheers!
