"Afghan security forces launched an operation on Wednesday to rescue 18 people captured by Taliban insurgents after their helicopter made an emergency landing in territory under the militants' control, the Ministry of Defence said. The Taliban said they had shot down the helicopter and captured 15 people. Moldova's acting prime minister said the helicopter was operated by a Moldovan company and it had 21 people on board including a Moldovan crew of three. More bad news … from another islamist dominated region … That only produces bad news. I wonder if the ANA will be successful ? From the article I can't tell if the ANA launched their rescue mission, etc. ? And if US SF will be involved ? |

The ANA aren't doing too bad given the constraints they're fighting under. Like pitiful casevac, no pay etc. They've not folded and they've kept Kabul reaosnably safe from what I hear. |

We'll see … we'll see … Generally the ANA and ANP performances in many combat situations have been less that satisfactory … But as we know, I tend to be very critical of these forces. |
