Brigade Models currently makes starships for the American Republic, British, Chinese Democratic Socialist Union, European Federation, German (ONESS), Indonesian Republic, Neo-Soviet, Pacific Federation, South African Confederation, Swiss Confederation, and the Welsh Star League.

Which human-based faction would you like to see them add next?

One of my favorite, though never flew, FT faction was the Illuminati.

I'd like to see some giant interstellar corporate ships (the corporations, not the ships, are giant.) Not quite up to mil-spec, but still quite dangerous.

The FT faction I dreamed up was a mega-corp that lost an interwar business power struggle, and had to close up shop except for secret deep space facilities. but, they weren't illuminated. Really.

Aren't the factions from the 'Iron Cow' setting? Someone would have to fill me in on what other factions exist. :)

Native Peoples Circle? (American Indians/Indigenous Peoples who said, "Fine, keep the damn dirt!" and left.)

People's Holy Republic? Christian Communists – think current tech neo-Stalinist High Church types who went to the New Holy Lands.

Anarchist Association?

Is there a faction based in the asteroid field? That might be kind of cool. An asteroid miners fleet.

Aren't the factions from the 'Iron Cow' setting?

I'm pretty sure the names have changed over the years (weren't the CDSU ships originally New Israel?), and Tony and bunch would be fine if you called them 'Bob'.

Wait, there's an Iron Cow 'Welsh Star League?"

Woo-hoo!

Doug

Edit:

Is there a faction based in the asteroid field?

I'd assume militarized commercial ships, weaponized prospectors, for example. Not seeing it as an 'interstellar fleet.'

No love for Orion-style, clandestine pirate cartels?

Well, the spaceship factions for the most part line up with the 6mm range factions, and per that page:

"Our 1/300th vehicles (or 6mm, depending on the terminology you prefer) range is aimed at Wessex Games' Iron Cow universe."

But I don't know the Iron Cow setting or how well those factions map to what Brigade has.

Leaving aside Iron Cow for a second, there's a definite paucity of Latin America-flavored factions out there, so a Federation of Neo Brasilia, Second (Third?) Mexican Empire, Andean Ascendancy, etc, etc would all be interesting.

I also like the idea of Dutch.

From the 6mm factions, I'm hopeful the Poles will turn up as a space-faring faction.

South American, Neo-Brazilia Federation sounds good……..

Latin America is also a blank in the Iron Cow setting, if my glance at the rulebook is correct. It doesn't make the list of major power blocs, and nobody else seems to control it.

Argentina is mentioned as having been defeated twice in wars concerning Antarctica.

Also, since the Iron Cow universe is set in the early days of Man's colonization of the stars, you could conceivably have lots of small factions.

Vatican – Pope needs a battleship.

But any faction that would have its own distinctive style would be welcome, Aztecs, Neo-Rome, Aegypt all sound good.

From the rulebook, the major "power blocs" are:

American Republic (AmRep) – dictatorship of East Coast
Chinese Democratic Socialist Union (CDSU)
European Federation (EuroFed) – French dominated, includes Spanish and Italian units
Indonesian Republic
Khallistani League – fundamentalist Islamic in Middle East/Central Asia
Neo-Soviet Republic – dictatorship
Organization of North European Sovereign States (ONESS) – a NATO-type alliance that includes England, Poland and Germany, limited standardization of equipment
Pacific Federation (PacFed) – Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii
South African Commonwealth – south and east Africa

The only bloc not yet covered by a starship line would be the Khallistani.

Minor powers already covered are England, Swiss and Wales.

In the history, it is mentioned that "Western" states succeeded from the US, leading to war and establishment of the AmRep in the East. So there is the possibility of independent minor powers such as Texas or California.

Brazil is mentioned as having a colony on Mars, later sold to AmRep.

India is mentioned fighting Khallistani.

The Saudi Empire exists. Iran exists.

So there is the possibility of independent minor powers such as Texas or California.

Or even a Free CalTex. (Sorry, an FT ref.)

Plenty of fantasy (small f) redrawing of western US boundaries to give dozens of small fleets.

Wait, if ONESS has England, how is that also a minor power? Different point in history?

Iron Cow is one of the few Wessex titles I don't own.

India would also be awesome, also a paucity of factions inspired by the subcontinent. Also looks like Brazil could be a contender. A rival ex-US faction would also be very cool.

Wait, if ONESS has England, how is that also a minor power? Different point in history?

Based on the fluff notes on Brigade's site, I think ONESS members maintain separate military forces (like NATO), with some shared equipment.

Thanks, wminsing!

If so, I missed, and I DO try to troll Brigade Models pretty thoroughly. I'll take another peek.

If you look in the "6mm SF" and "15mm SF" section, Britain, Germany and Poland all have "(ONESS)" written after the country name.

And they do maintain essentially different vehicles mix (the only commonality of ORBAT is the Polish MBT which is a variant – same hull, different weapons/sensors – of the German one).

Given the historical contribution to naval engineering in real life from Scotland, if the Welsh and English are represented, well…..

The 'Caledonian Concordium' has a ring to it! :)
