I have always painted ogres in a dark yellow/ochre skintone. Lately, however since GW and LOTR I am seeing a lot of gray ogres. But in the general consensus. Yellow or gray ogres? |

Paint them the way you want after all there is no "official" colors for them. Me, I'll wait for the Osprey book. |

I go with a variety depending on the sculpt. D&D tended to have more bestial looking ogres whereas GW had ogres that were more human looking. I tend to use the yellow/ochre scheme alot too: TMP link |

I do mine in a yellow-y colour too. |

That's how I was taught. Its really funny if you read the AD&D MM, they have them with black teeth, green hair weird eyes. I dont think anyone took those descriptions too seriously. We did all our giants human flesh so you could use them all as one kind of giant. |

I went with a yellow base for my Ogres as well. |

I usually do yellow ochre as well. Though for my GW ogres I went with Reaper's Asian Skintone triad, looks good. Damon. |

Hey Rogzombie. For these three ogre figures, I used Reaper's Olive Skin triad. I've tried this colour set on a human figure and it just doesn't look good. But on Ogres…ya, it works just fine.

Wow painting from Kevin and Chuck It's Fantasy so do what you want. It makes me laugh when people insist on specific colour schemes for Fantasy figures – seems to me to miss the whole point. Is it still Fantasy if you think GW is the gospel ? But more seriously, what really counts is the relationship of colours on each figure and how that fits into your army as a whole. The very best armies I have seen, have colour schemes that make each unit unique, but brings them together as a whole Look at how well Chuck and Kevin's figures work. The colours of the armour and equipment make the whole figure shine. See how the red blood spatter is a complementary colour to the armour and skin on Kevin's last figure ? John |

I always painted ogres as simply large ugly people. |

I started using Mage Knight Krugg figures as Ogres. I just apply The Dip (Royal Walnut) to the MK factory paint (dark purple skin?). Quick, easy, and they look good enough to game with. Cheers! |

Where do those Ogres come from, Vilmon? |
Rogzombie | 10 Apr 2016 3:35 p.m. PST |
Vilmonn, sorry for the late reply, those are great. I have been painting them like that for ages. I hate the grey gw stuff. But if I sold some I'd like to get it where people like it. LOTR had some oddly colored ogres. |
