Was wondering on ideas for scenarios in the time period the summer before Pearl Harbor to just before the Battle of the Coral Sea.

I've been reading up on the subject, mainly: "Racing the Sunrise: Reinforcing America's Pacific Outposts, 1941-1942" link dealing with the Allied effort to reinforce their Pacific outposts before the initial Japanese attacks.

And "Fortnight of Infamy: The Collapse of Allied Airpower West of Pearl Harbor, December 1941" link covers the Air & Naval battles immediately following Pear Harbor.

Both highly recommended.

Mostly what are some good rules or ship models and scales to use? The first book has some good insight into possible "what-if" scenarios and force structure if the reinforcements did arrive prior to the Japanese attacks.

I personaly love GQ3 for rules with 1/2400 scale models. My collection is mostly GHQ(cannot beat the quality). I use shapeways, CnC & Panzershciff for the odds and ends.

This is a bit more "what-if" but you could get scenarios from Hector Bywater's novel, "The Great Pacific War" and move them forward to 1941/42 in terms of ships and aircraft (and politics).
