Has anyone seen this? I bought it as a DVD, out of curiosity, and do recall hearing it was being filmed, on this forum.

I am only half way through it and doubt I will finish it.

Obviously, the actor is nothing like DoW, but, as he hardly appears in it, that does not matter! Catherine Deneuve was also billed as starring. I think she had one scene.

It is mostly in Portuguese with subtitles and started with some nice Cacadores uniforms. It is the usual Sharpe thing, only lower budget, with 20 men representing a regiment. The story line is almost non existent and the only salvation has been a bonny lass (clearly a natural blonde shall we say?) getting all her kit off, for no obvious reason that I could fathom. Unless there is more of that, I think it is time it went in the charity bag.

To be fair. Its original title seems to have been The Lines of Wellington (Torres Vedras, not wrinkles)

I watched the first episode. They never explain that is Wellington. In fact, he is never addressed by anything except "sir." I presumed that was who he was supposed to be. Not a convincing role for the great actor but the show after one episode was pretty good.

Sirs:

I bitterly protest being compared to Star Wars Episode 1 and resent any implications of commonality.

Sincerely,

Crap

Darth Maul was totally wasted…..I do not mean under the influence…I mean a missed opportunity for a great character. I think he spoke two or three lines, but seemed an idea that could have been developed far more. Imagine his double-ended light sabre up against Luke Skywalker.

Like Bobba Fett, but they eventually worked out that he had been a potential leading role.

At least there is no pod racing in this DVD, not yet anyway

Darth Maul was totally wasted

He was a completely wooden character. No depth. Nothing. Just a bad guy to fill the role of an unmotivated bad guy. Yeah. They could have developed him more. But then again, they could have written the whole movie better. He was developed for the level of effort of the writing.

There was nudity?

I didn't make it that far.

Totally gratuitous scene. No reason at all why she should appear stark naked at that point. Other than that the whole story line was dying the death and needed spicing up…..which she certainly did achieve. But I doubt that will be repeated. If only.

Mind you, I might persist a bit further now……

Ep 1 was just an opportunity to sell toys and introduce Darth Jar Jar.

Movie was a bust. JM just didn't pull it off as Wellington. The movie was a snoozer. Really bad.
