Anyone know of any SP modifications for 7YW Europe ?
Maybe in one of the TFL Specials ?

I have a bunch of 7YW Prussians, Austrian Grenz and Russian Cossacks I would like to try some skirmish battles with.

Thanks for any info.

I'm not sure you really need any special mods for the SYW.
It's all black powder muzzle loaders. Jaeger's might have rifles but that's it.

Cliff did post in the Sharp Practice board. I think James is right, the only thing you might want to look up is unit organization/sizes for the period (which can be done outside of the Specials).

Thanks for the input guys.

I had been wondering if I should modify anything for some scenarios set in the 'wilds' of East Prussia.

Noticed there is a "Damn those rebellious Cossacks! – SP variant" on TMP , tho of an earlier time period:

What a great setting for SP; very colourful.

I think the game will play perfectly well 'as is'. Part of the fun of SP is adding a few period-specific bonus cards for added variety. You may get a few other ideas from the AWI supplements, and the articles on the FIW in one of the specials, given that they're roughly the same period, if not the same nationalities.

SP is more about the men than the weaponry and formations, and I'm sure Cossacks fought in roughly the same way for over 200 years.

You may want to take a look at Charles s. Grant's "BORDER RAID: Pillage in Procrastor" for scenario ideas. Also the TFL Summer 2001 special features   La Longue Carabine.  A Sharp  Practice  supplement  for  the  French and Indian Wars. There are suggestions for British and French regular troops unit numbers and ratings.

A Mini Campaign With a Difference

"We have now arrived at the sixth mini-campaign book dealing with the fictitious wars of the Grand Duchy of Lorraine and the Vereinigte Freie Städte (VFS). For those that have followed the history of the conflict between these two adversaries this book follows on from the Attack on the Junger. However the activities are only loosely connected to the previous campaign and the book stands on its own.

I have become increasingly conscious that a large number of my campaign battles require significant wargame armies. These are not within every wargamer's reach. In the last book, Attack on the Jünger, I quite deliberately included two small actions and in the last Wargaming in History I focused on Seven Years War small actions. Following on in this vein Border Raid is very much about a mini campaign with small forces and small actions.

This campaign is completely different from those described in previous books. The previous books have led the readers and players through number of set piece scenarios. The actions that took place in this campaign were not pre-planned but created by the orders and actions of the players involved. They have been described here and could be replayed. However, dozens of quite different actions might be the result of fighting this campaign.

As ever, a C18th background but useful for any period you fancy. This volume is particularly transferable to WWII/Modern skirmish rules as it comprises small-scale actions with small forces."

Thanks all.
Grant's books and scenarios are great. I have a number of his
books in my collection. Will have to dig them out.

And yes , the TFL AWI & FIW supplements are a good idea. Will have to buy them as well :)
