Since a Poll quite rightly freed the Bleep-o-Matic from "medical" terminology, some words do not get bleeped anymore. One would assume that this means that they are now OK to use, or "That which is not forbidden is compulsory". But noooooooo….. So. How about an un-censored official list of that which must not be named? |

If it's a list of "that which must not be named" how does Bill go about naming it? Eric |

Well, we could always specify the words in the tried and true tradition: The A-word, the B-word, the C-word, the other C-word, etc. |

I made a list once but when I posted it, it got bleeped. |

Reminds me of George Carlin's routine on the 7 dirty words.. NSFW… turn the volume down low if so. YouTube link |

Easy I assume they are words I would not have used in front of my mother nor any other lady. |

Not that I want to encourage delinquentism, but one could beat bleep-o-matic by making a list, taking a screen capture and posting the image as a pic….. But I advise against doing so. |

And in Britain we have a clothing retailer called FCUK and of course that's in no way provocative in any shape or form at all. |

I love that Carlin routine … we couldn't stop laughing when we first heard it. And everytime afterwards ! |

This is the sort of purposeful disingenuous behavior that I was talking about in the other thread. There is no way that the original poster did not know that the use of the (now "bleeped" once again) "S word" would not be acceptable. I suspect he was just playing at being cute when he got himself, correctly, DH'd. As to the question posed by the thread, how about applying some common sense to the "problem"? Everyone here is very well aware of what is profanity. Let me put it this way: if a word is something you would not dare say in front of your mom* or if it is something that would not suitable for use in an official document at your work place, then it's a fair bet that you should not use it here on TMP. This is not brain surgery, folks! *-Cue three or four cracks by unfunny would-be comedians about their mother cursing like a sailor, etc… |

Just curious… what about using bad words in other idioms…? (smile) Are penalty for them?… Amicalement Armand |

Martin H Wolverton: Where to start? The amount of energy to refute your arguments are an order of magnitude greater than it takes you to produce it. My suggestion is take a chill pill. Seriously, you're starting to sound like a crazy insane person. PS: I forgot this is TMP. What was I thinking? |
