Hello

I am wondering if anyone knows how well Peter Pig scales with Battle Front. I want to do the Harlem Hell fighters for a Great War list and want some of my guys in French Helments anyone know if this will work?

Thanks,

Adam

I mix them all the time, though I do not have WWI figs. Pretty much the same size.

So you think head swaps would work?

Adamc177616 Nov 2015 11:32 a.m. PST

Any other suggestins?

They mix fine. I have a mixture of BF and PP figures in my US WW2 figures. You can see them here:

In this picture the guy kneeling on the right is BF and the guys squatting on the left are PP.

They mix very well, but I prefer the peter pig sculpts as for looking strange, do people look strange when they have their mouth open talking, or catching their breath…nope

ChargeSir16 Nov 2015 12:50 p.m. PST

That's fine we all have our opinions, it's personal taste. You dislike them, I think they are good sculpts. I have mixed them with Battlefront before, and find them to be more crispy cast than some of the BF ranges. BF a re one of those I want to see the model before I purchase it due to the variability in the ranges.

I sure had my mouth open when I was doing infantry training!

I am not talking about mixing the two set of figures I know that works fine… But how well will the Peater Pig heads fit on Battle front figures

kevanG16 Nov 2015 2:00 p.m. PST

I have put PP heads on some battlefront figures.

generally, I find it improves them.

Nice figures G. Don't worry about KY ,just a hater. I think that kneeling figures are easier to blend than standing figures. Not sure why.

The only comment I would make is that some BF figures seem to lack hips, groins and belly's. Their legs sometimes seem to join directly onto the bottom of the figures chest. This is most noticeable in some of their German figures. I#ll see if I can track down an example.

KY, I have put PP heads on BF bodies quite nicely. I got a BF Vickers platoon and put some PP turbaned heads and bush hat heads on the british MG team to make support teams for my Indians and Chindits.

Figures with mouths open are either communicating, swearing, or breathing heavy, all things which soldiers do frequently.

Peter Pig, heads have open mouths, so the look a bit strange.

He wasn't asking what you thought of PP sculpting and style, he was asking "…how well Peter Pig scales with Battle Front…"

I've re-headed nearly every BF chap I have with a Peter Pig head. My best advice would be to twist off the redundant head with pliers (clipping it off can damage the neck/shoulders).

Works fine on every single model I've swapped.

yikes! that giant in the back of the schiw…

ChargeSir16 Nov 2015 11:13 p.m. PST

Are the Blue Moon not 18mm rather than 15mm, plus PP. do a pack of WW1 heads in Adrian helmets.

16 heads to a pack and already on a peg to insert, this would seem the cheapest way to get the heads?

BeneathALeadMountain17 Nov 2015 4:12 a.m. PST

Best option is to live in the UK.

My LW British are Battlefront, Old Glory, Plastic Soldier Company and Peter Pig. All play well together and except for OG I have to really squint to tell the difference.

Lion in the Stars17 Nov 2015 8:50 a.m. PST

@John Lacour: It's intentional, that's a Raventhorpe 20mm mini. The unit itself is from the anime "Pumpkin Scissors" where one guy is about 7'6" tall, the two guys in green uniforms are 5'10" to 6', and the gal in the orange uniform is about 5'4".

Luckily 15mm WW!/2 don't stand in ranks so there is more latitude. Of course you will end up in 5 years time not knowing where"that chap" is from! Often a head makes enough of a difference to make the figure a completely different nationality.

Still looks cheaper to buy a head from brookhurst hobbies than buy a Blue Moon 18mm in order to get a head to convert about 20 cents a piece. Difference

But anyway in answer to the original OP they mix well, twist the head off is the best approach and once you start converting heads you may not be able to stop :-)

This thing about PP and open mouths. I always mean to ask how much time do you spend looking at the faces of your toys?
