Just to say I was proud to be with everyone at the show today when the organisers called for a minutes silence for those killed in Paris on Friday.

I don't think I have ever heard a minutes silence so perfectly observed.

I had overheard some French people in the throng earlier and I feel sure they must have appreciated it as much as I did.

All,
Had another cracking game with these terrific rules. This time with the help of my son in law. Some communication with author Mike Demana cleared up pre-game questions. The scenario has a family of settlers fleeing towards a local Blockhouse with a wagon loaded with their worldly possessions. The woods surrounding the Blockhouse are infested with Huron war bands, and the Blockhouse can spare few men to escort the wagon.
My son in law commanded the Huron Warband, and deployed his force after a successful quality roll in Indian File moving through the woods. There were 12 Huron in total, versus 9 Militia and the family with the wagon. I commanded the Blockhouse and had the family with the wagon. I decided to take 3 Militiamen from the garrison to escort the family, while the remaining 6 guarded the Blockhouse. My "Ace in the Hole" as it were, was a pair of heroic Frontiersmen as part of the garrison.
The game developed quickly. Once James had his Indians in position, he launched an attack on the wagon with part of the force, while others moved to assault the Blockhouse. In close combat, 2 of the civilians fell quickly out of action, while a Huron musket took the life of a Militiaman. The remaining pair of Militiamen did their best to protect their charges, managing to knock down a pair of Huron with close range shots. Back at the Blockhouse, the Militia officer was rallying his small force, as they could see movement at the edge of the woods. The pair of frontier marksmen carefully took aim, and in a pair of turns, managed to turn the tide. One frontiersmen took careful aim, and with a deadly long range shot, put the Renegade leading the warband out of action. He had conveniently moved square into the open! The mandatory morale roll saw 2 Huron run away, and another 3 came very close to the edge. By this time, Huron near the Blockhouse began to trade shots with the garrison, but the stout wooden walls proved to be good cover.
Fighting continued around the wagon, but the 3 out of action in the initial assault were the only losses. The remaining pair of militia guards struggled back and forth with the Huron. Ultimately, due to some fine shooting, the Huron hit 50% and lost 2 more warriors to bad quality rolls. Following that, they were reduced to 25% quickly, and faded away into the woods, carrying their losses with them. The final point tally was 90 points for the Colonials, and 60 for the Huron.
A tense, enjoyable game. Sorry, no pictures.

Nick

Could fit it all in the title. SODT is Song of Drum and Tomahawks.

Is the Songs of Drums and Tomahwaks a card driven skirmish game?

IronDuke, no, no cards at all, simple d6 used throughout.

What is going on with this thread?

I thought the silence was impecably observed, and very well done whoever decided to hold it.

Also, very well done on the backpack announcement too – big thumbs up for that.

nnascati; thanks…I must give this set of rules some serious consideration for my War of 1812 skirmish games..a future project.
