That's incredible. You can even see the paint and lettering. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, I am amazed at how well preserved it is, given the duration underwater.

Oddball13 Nov 2015 10:38 a.m. PST

That's a 250 Neu, right?

Wow, that is small.

This appears to be a video of the same recovery, just longer and with some sub-titles. And it has a second vehicle (SdKfz 7) being recovered in the second part of the video.

When I see things like this, my question is always 'How did they find this thing?". Tanks pulled from swamps in Russia, half-track buried in the mud of a river, how do they locate them? Are guys who are combing the out of the way locations in wet suits with metal detectors?

And how often do they find unexploded ordnance?

Quite frankly the hole process seems very crude…..smash and grab for the vehicle…..

So that's where Oncle Artur parked it!

Very nice model, but think they went overboard on the paint chipping ;-)

Tom Cruise was driving it on some Risky Business involving a coup against Hitler.

Nice find Armand! Thanks for sharing!
Looks like the Sdkfz 7 was burned out before being pushed into the river.

I suspect that it did not just teleport in. Being in the river I suspect it tried to cross in the winter and fell through the ice. There were two vehicles in line found so it may have been a unit crossing.

Locals may have seen it when it was out of the water (or just fell through the ice). This is how a panther was found after it had been lost and "demolished". It was also recovered.

Also records with the German forces may have listed where lost and what effort was made to recover them. Someone may have checked the German archives.
