Hi

I just posted a short review at my blog of the upcomming release in the Osprey wargaming serie, OWG 11 by author Keith Flint.

HONOURS OF WAR – Wargames Rules for the Seven Years War

I hope you all will have a really nice weekend !

Best regards Michael

I'm really looking forward to giving these a go in a couple of weeks.

I've skimmed through them and they look like they cover all the bases and will give a good game with plenty of period feel.

I think 64 pages (A typical Osprey) is just about perfect for a comprehensive set of rules (BP are nearly 200 pages, plus a supplement), and the price is spot on too.

Thanks, Michael.

Just to 'declare my interests', I'm making no money whatsoever on sales of HoW.

Thanks for the review. It's on my list of games to buy. Out the 20th and my wife's birthday is the 21st! You think she'll like it? It could be a gateway to a life of gaming right? Or not. grin

Glad you liked the review, indeed a very nice set of rules to have in the collection and it will give you and the wife hours of gaming time toghether:) or dose she rather take the new vacuum cleaner for birthday;)

Honours of War or new vacuum cleaner for her birthday? Tough call but either one could well be a gateway to a new life.

I will definitely be getting one. The game not the vacuum cleaner.

The above was a bunch of questions to which I would have known the answers if I had read the review before posting the message. And to think I used to make my living as a researcher.frown

Mine came over the net today. Much better than I expected! Rules, scenarios, art, and potted history! What's not to love!

Very good review Michael I have just bought a copy of HOW on the strength of it.

Got my copy today very nice all together.

Just had a quick game of the small scenario contained in HOW. As I have no 7YW armies yet I used my forces for the Williamite War in Ireland. To reflect the period adjustment I used the musket only ranges with an up1 for melee and down1 for firing for the old fashioned British and Irish pike and shot units normal for the others.

I have to say it worked very well indeed so fair play to Keith Flint. I might even do a AAR with a couple of snaps.

I'm impressed its an elegant system.

Got my copy yesterday and I really like the look of this book. Very interesting use of the Average Dice though as I had not seen that for many years.

Inspiring photos on the website too. Can't wait to get my stuff done for it.
