I wrote up a quick blog on the game I put on at Colonial Barracks. I hope you enjoy the battle.

Dan,

Outstanding AAR! That really was an amazing game Dan, huge fun! Thank you for hosting it. It was Very well run, had beautiful models, great terrain, and simple yet VERY effective water. It was a real pleasure to play in. I was concerned B&B would be too unwieldy but the log sheets helped and you explained it very well so I had no issues and thoroughly enjoyed the game. I actually managed to land my dhow next to the point and unload my screaming mass of Ansar troops to help reinforce the beleaguered Hadendowa units. When Lucas' boat went down and Dwight broke up the coffee stirrers and placed them and the smoke marker where his ship was, well we just about fell out laughing. What a great moment in a great game.

Well done! unlike many Nile games you seemed to get the width of the river and terrain pretty close to reality. Exceptional looking game.

Very cool looking game! It brings back fond memories of many TSATF game played in a certain basement.

Awesome write-up for an awesome game, Dan! One of if not the single best looking game incorporating gunboats on the Nile that I've ever seen in person! Very well done in every respect, and especially considering how things ended, very deserving of the Gunny award for "Most Hollywood-like Game"! Congrats again!

Excellent report, they should all be done that way. Congratulations I bet all the hard work on the scenery and figures was well worth , thanks for sharing.

Dan!

I am--uncharacteristically--speechless at the virtual perfection of this game and its report.

Everyone ahead of me has already said most anything I could, but as the man responsible for "Boilers And Breechloaders" I take the issues you raised on your blog and in your kind letter to me to heart and wish to make the tweaks that will make future games flow ever more smoothly.

A fifth edition (!) of B&B with expanded rules for fortifications was already in the mix, but the adjustments suggested here should, naturally, be incorporated there, too.

Please contact me again off TMP with your specific observations and suggestions, and let's see if we can't make them available to previous buyers as a free PDF upon request.

You have so advanced the standards of after game reports, and the photos were so well presented in this one, the only thing left to do is somehow be able to start using specific casualty figures for those shots of the field.

And--absolutely!--I'd have paid top ticket dollar to see this action on screen. So, when can you present your next report in IMAX?

Odd as it may seem, my favorite part of the pictures is all the ropes and pulleys that are on the Dhows. Very nice ship building all around and a great looking game. Like the water idea as well.

Dan, What a fabulous looking game. Glad to see there's another season of campaigning in Sudan ahead. Your previous campaign is my all-time favorite.

SgtGuinness17 Nov 2015 8:18 a.m. PST

Rhingyll, you got that right. He actually undertook extensive research to see exactly how the dhows operated and tacked so that he could fabricate a reasonable copy of the tackle! I'd say he did an outstanding job. The pics are good but all the boats look even better in person! It was a pleasure to play in that game. We really did get some awesome games and awesome GM's for the CBV con! Huzzah the GM's, thank you.

PS – I've got pics of your Highlanders baptism of fire in the Mad Guru's awesome Charasiab NWF game.

Cheers,
JB
