Well I think we can now say the hard plastic revolution has arrived – a genre as arcane as 'Cold War Gone Hot' had become after the Berlin wall came down now has rapid assembly hard plastic tanks and IFV's being produced. (Yes I know Zvezda produced some but they were not what I would call 'cheap' Maybe I'm just tight!) I suspect the period is about to become a lot more mainstream! From the Team Yankee website: link
Happy days! |

Da, Tovarich! The USD120 for 9 tanks and two gunships is a little steep but my 1/100-ish Roskopf and Zvezda could use some variety …. maybe just one more MRB …. |
Mako11 | 12 Nov 2015 2:17 a.m. PST |
Those sets look nice. Sad there's no M150 option for the M113 kits though. |
Bellbottom | 12 Nov 2015 3:23 a.m. PST |
Any idea how much the five vehicle boxes are please? |
GeoffQRF | 12 Nov 2015 3:57 a.m. PST |
I know Zvezda produced some but they were not what I would call 'cheap' The Zvezda T-72 is about £7.00 GBP At $120 USD these are about $10 USD/£6.50 each (using 9 vehicles, plus two extra for the gunships, plus 1 as the gunships are a bit more expensive). We are still £6.00 GBP each (or £5.10 GBP this week). Old Glory are about $10 USD each, Peter Pig are similar. What's going on with that BMP real wheel spacing? |
CAG 19 | 12 Nov 2015 4:34 a.m. PST |
Sad there's no M150 option for the M113 kits though. That is where the TOW kit from QRF comes in. I have added two of these for my Israeli's |
CAG 19 | 12 Nov 2015 4:38 a.m. PST |
And the M163 kit gives me bits for M113A3s, and the M1s have loads of upgrade potential to M1A1 for my OIF forces. This could be useful across a whole of range of periods (if they do it right) |
gunnerphil | 12 Nov 2015 4:44 a.m. PST |
The one big advantage of Battlefront is I can pick them up in a store. The cost of postage makes a big difference. I know that is not the manufacturers fault. But is a factor I will need to consider. |
bruntonboy | 12 Nov 2015 4:49 a.m. PST |
Isn't that BMP company missing something? You know…infantry. |
VonTed | 12 Nov 2015 4:54 a.m. PST |
Oh you can buy those as well! :) I hope BF re-figures their worldwide pricing scheme, as it stands now it makes much more sense for the US to order from Europe ($$-wise at least) |
CAG 19 | 12 Nov 2015 4:58 a.m. PST |
I like the BMP-1 and -2 mixes. as to the rear most road wheel it does look a bit exaggerated but there should be a noticable gap
|
Cosmic Reset | 12 Nov 2015 5:42 a.m. PST |
The quality of the models looks really great, but I am so bummed that they are plastic. |
nickinsomerset | 12 Nov 2015 6:36 a.m. PST |
Shame there is no BMP-1P variant, Tally Ho! |
Saber6 | 12 Nov 2015 6:36 a.m. PST |
QRF through Scale Creep are not prohibitive. |
Jemima Fawr | 12 Nov 2015 6:47 a.m. PST |
It does seem odd that they'd miss the opportunity to chuck a few parts on the sprues to make other variants – TOW launcher for the M150, AT-4 Spigot launcher to make BMP-1P or BMP-2 Warpac export variant, etc… |
GeoffQRF | 12 Nov 2015 7:02 a.m. PST |
for those in the US the postage makes their items as or more expenisive Mark at Scale Creep can order anything from us. You should then only be paying domestic shipping. It does seem odd that they'd miss the opportunity to chuck a few parts on the sprues to make other variants – TOW launcher for the M150, AT-4 Spigot launcher to make BMP-1P or BMP-2 Warpac export variant, etc Not if they are focussing on the book. |

I saw Zvezda T-72s at a store for $9.99 USD a kit, so I don't see how that is any more expensive than BF. |
GeoffQRF | 12 Nov 2015 7:45 a.m. PST |
My point is that they all work out to about $10.00 USD USD per tank/apc/ifv (not including postage), regardless of manufacturer. Yep, Scale Creep are $9.75 USD for our T-72s (plus domestic shipping) which is slightly cheaper once you order from us (£6=$9) and take international shipping into account. I did just have a giggle when I checked Mark's shipping: We do not have "handling" charges or mark up postage for "packaging supplies." Does your grocery store charge you for bags? Actually…. in the UK now, yes! |
freerangeegg | 12 Nov 2015 8:36 a.m. PST |
Very tempting. Just a bit disappointed that they haven't gone for clear canopies on the helicopters. |
shaun from s and s models | 12 Nov 2015 8:53 a.m. PST |
plenty of scope for more add on conversion kits I see |
GeoffQRF | 12 Nov 2015 9:51 a.m. PST |
….price advantage… Watch this space in the next couple of months ;-) |
darthfozzywig | 12 Nov 2015 10:07 a.m. PST |
Actually…. in the UK now, yes! I had the same chuckle: Los Angeles does as well. |
Doms Decals | 12 Nov 2015 10:20 a.m. PST |
I think the real game changers are yet to come. BF's price point means plastic is a big deal for distribution and arguably quality, but not a game changer in terms of price. If QRF get their bulk sellers into 10 packs like some of their WWII items (given Geoff's "watch this space" I'm guessing it's more than crossed his mind) that'll be a very big deal, and I'm also keen to see if the Plastic Soldier Company dip their toe in the water – those are the two possibilities that could really open it up to those on a tighter budget. |
DeRuyter | 12 Nov 2015 10:58 a.m. PST |
Sigh- I remember when even BF resin WWII vehicles were less than $5 USD a pop. Of course that was before the FOW et al explosion! |
Garand | 12 Nov 2015 11:22 a.m. PST |
Shame there is no BMP-1P variant,
With a little creative knife-work, shouldn't be too hard to convert… Damon. |
McWong73 | 12 Nov 2015 1:15 p.m. PST |
Shaun, get cracking my good man! Looking forward to you releasing those conversion kits for the M48 and Centurion. |

It's a race to see who'll produce the M114 in 1/100th scale, first. ;-) |

It's a race to see who'll produce the M114 in 1/100th scale, first. ;-) Uh… no It's a race to see if anyone will ever produce a 1/100 scale M114 |
Mako11 | 12 Nov 2015 7:17 p.m. PST |
QRF has the inside track, and some drawings now, so……. They'd be perfect for the US Armored Cavalry troop (especially if sporting those nice 20mm cannons) to go up against a Soviet recon company, with a mix of a tank platoon, and some BMPs, and BRDM-2s. ;-) |
Lion in the Stars | 12 Nov 2015 8:37 p.m. PST |
[M114s would] be perfect for the US Armored Cavalry troop (especially if sporting those nice 20mm cannons) to go up against a Soviet recon company, with a mix of a tank platoon, and some BMPs, and BRDM-2s. Sounds like a good fight to game! I'd love to see side-by-side comparisons of the BF and Zvezda models. I know that for WW2, Zvezda trucks and katyushas are the way to go. Especially the Katys. |

Is there a out let for QRF here in Australia ?? Just placed a order with Geff in the UK QRF, P & P is a killer. |
GeoffQRF | 13 Nov 2015 12:15 a.m. PST |
Sadly no. We have tried a few in the past but they have all fallen by the wayside. However we do use a couple of shipping options and if we can get the shipping cost significantly cheaper than the figure our system charges we have refunded the difference, but unfortunately this seems to becoming rarer. |
Navy Fower Wun Seven | 13 Nov 2015 12:22 a.m. PST |
Just placed a order with Geff in the UK QRF, P & P is a killer. Alas yes, its a real bummer. I just luurve their terrain tiles, good looking and tough as nails, but, until I own my own shipping line, not gonna happen… That's why the plastic revolution is such good news down under! |
gunnerphil | 13 Nov 2015 2:45 a.m. PST |
I guess that is one advantage of living in Europe I can get to Salute, and pick stuff up. Always fun with security, and trying notbto get excess baggage charge |
GeoffQRF | 13 Nov 2015 3:21 a.m. PST |
The terrain tiles are a particular issue, being lightweight, relatively low cost, but bulky. With shipping being more based on the volume it takes up than the weight these days, it often means the cost of shipping (the true cost) outweighs the cost of the item itself. Now, if you can find someone reliable down under who might be interested in a franchise deal… |
Clickenhof | 15 Nov 2015 8:18 p.m. PST |
Thank you GeoffQRF for your reply, back to the Berlin camo……..Click's eye's look towards Sydney for someone to put up their hand about QRF |

[M114s would] be perfect for the US Armored Cavalry troop (especially if sporting those nice 20mm cannons) to go up against a Soviet recon company, with a mix of a tank platoon, and some BMPs, and BRDM-2s Assuming it actually runs. The M114 was underpowereed, unreliable and had rotten cross country performance. An all around dud. Entered service in '62 and was dumped by '73. |
