In first edition, this cost 8 points.

Under the second-edition army building rules, I'm guessing this is:

Monstrous troop type (5)
+1 Fearless
+1 Long Ranged
+0 Monstrous (free with troop type)
+2 Shooting II
+1 Spellcaster
= 10 points?

I assume it is now Shooting II, since there is no Shooting III; and it has to pay for both levels of Shooting since it is not an archer troop-type.

The stats would go down to 5 Fighting/2 Support from 6 Fighting/4 Support, unless there's a rule on paying for that.

And maybe shave off a point because it is slow? 3" instead of 4" for Monstrous?

Bill, you pay one point for each level upgrade. You would add three points to keep it's stats the same as in the old edition.

But it has 5 upgrades, right?

Yes I agree with your assessment. Rather pricey unit..

Five upgrades sounds right. However, I was discussing with my friend how to write up Battle Wagons and we thought that rather than Monstrous, as they are big but not the size of a giant, that a maybe starting with a Chariot, giving it Shooting 1, Shooting 2, Long Range(?), and Fearless would suffice.
For the dwarf war machine, I can see it as artillery, paying extra for but more movement, and maybe something like Rampager or maybe paying one point for the magic Bind ability to represent a enemy unit being shocked and awed by the machine, would quantify it pretty well.
What do you think?
