Who does the best figures for 1630s French? I would like to do some Kings Musketeers and Cardinals Guard regiments in an army of Frenchmen…. |

I have been building a French army from the 1640s and 50s. Finding specific French figures is difficult and any Musketeer/Cardinals Guard figures tend to be hollywood inspired for fighting duels rather than for inclusion in an army. I have mixed Warlord Games/Redoubt/Perry and TAG quite successfully and you can see how they look on my blog link Redoubt do Musketeer figures with capes which are not too bad but they are rather chunky and a bit crude. They also do a range of French Mercenaries in their ECW range. This are better for the 1640s and later. They have slashed selves and lots of feathers and ribbons. Warlord Games Veteran Musketeers with capes can serve as Kings Musketeers as can some Redoubt ECW in bad weather gear. Hope this is helpful. And I hope one day some decent Kings Musketeers will come onto the market. |
