I bumped into this new kickstarter project recently: link Though I hardly know anything about that war, the figures look so nice, I think I will throw in a pledge for a few units. Especialy those Sudan troop types can probably be used for a lot more than this war! A few stretch goals are already reached. Let's hope for more (free miniatures!) |

Ah ! This is about the First AFGHAN war (in India), which had (and has) nothing to do whatsoever with the Sudan (in Africa). I do agree however that this is a very interesting Kickstarter project (in which I already joined), with – among other interesting figures – a young Harry Flashman. Now let's hope there also will be created a figure of Lady Sale. She (other than Flashman of course;-)) is a historical person, who (IIRC) was called "the only real man among the British", and during the infamous Retreat from Kabul (1842) was 52 years old. Richard Thomas Bott painted her in 1844 and I for one would not hesitate a second to buy a figure that looked like this painting. (hint! hint! ;-)) |
