Never, honestly. I wouldn't mind hypotheticals, but I'd prefer not to work with ongoing conflicts. Besides, the Cold War era has some pretty nifty hardware and politicking. |

I only like to game with "near peer" opponents and harbor a strong dislike for wargaming where the sides are asymmetrical, so the answer is no. |

Been a while, hard to find opponents, even when I provide both sides of the game. |

Last weekend at Fall In. I like both peer combat and asymmetric engagements---both are challenges in different ways. |
Tgunner | 10 Nov 2015 7:04 p.m. PST |
Quite a few games for me. I mostly play US vs. China or Russia. I also play some of the asymmetric games too. They are a lot of fun too with the right forces and victory conditions. I want to try out naval stuff too, but I haven't made the leap just yet. I'm still looking for some rules that click with me. |

Probably around a year ago, not done much UM recently. When we did it was either company level Afghanistan or the Russian invasion of Ukraine/spontaneous uprising of right thinking Ukrainians. |

chrisswim | 11 Nov 2015 8:31 a.m. PST |
Summer of 2014, I ran two Ultra Modern Micro Armor Wargames. Both based in the Ukraine, Russia attacking in the first game on Friday. Large armored and mechanized force along with air mobile attack using Mi-8 Hips with Mi-24F Hinds. On Saturday, Poland and the USA had mechanized units to counter attack. Support of a large logistics base and UAV drones. Two companies of M1A2 were in great position on a hill shooting at Russian armor across the plain and road. Shortly there after a hidden Russian tank force jumped in the rear of the Abrams, destroying those 2 companies. They were also destroyed as another company of Abrams and a company of Bradleys came up to continue the pursuit. Equipment list of major assets: Russia: T-90, BMP-3, ZSU-30-4, 2S19, BMD,etc Ukraine: T-84, T-80, BMP2, BMP-1, ZSU-23-4, SAU-122 Poland: Leopard 2A4, Marders, T-72 USA: M1A2 TUSK, M1A2, M2A2, AH-64D, Predators, and tons of trucks (semi-tractor-trailers, 5 axle Hemtts, 5 Ton M1083 with trailer, etc). |

Three weeks ago. Partially painted Taliban versus US Marines posing as Canadians. Rules used were Force on Force. Forty Taliban vs. 16 Canadians in two Cougar 6X6 MRPV's. Canadians won but the Taliban claim close to getting a draw by inflicting casualties. Loose ROE for the Canadians and IED's and an SPG-9 RCL for the Taliban. One Cougar destroyed and the diver badly wounded. Three Canadians wounded and nine Taliban dead, seven wounded and captured and two wounded but fled. The Canadians destroyed the SPG-9 recoil-less rifle. Cheers and good gaming. Rod Robertson. |
