The mystery surrounding the Pyramids of Giza continues after an international team of archaeologists discovered "thermal anomalies" at the base of the Great Pyramid. The group of scientists and archaeologists used infrared thermal cameras and found three stones that had higher temperatures at the bottom of Egypt's most famous pyramid. The team, who were looking for possible hidden passages within the 4,500-year-old structures, theorise that the higher temperatures could be due to air currents inside the monument, different building materials being used or possible vacant spaces within the pyramid… link |

wouldnt just the weight of the upper stones pressing down affect the lower stones temperature? |

Because silica-gel desiccant packs hadn't been invented yet, the Egyptians used mummified cats to keep their grain fresh. |

wouldnt just the weight of the upper stones pressing down affect the lower stones temperature? If it was the whole lower layer AND the temperature anomaly was very small, this would be a valid explanation. But it's evidently just some of the stones and the anomaly is bigger than could be expected from compression. BTW, thermal anomaly evidence also seems to indicate that there is another room beyond what was found in Tutankhamen's tomb. |
