Read the book a few weeks ago, what a book! It really tells you things about the Battle off Samar that few know about, especially the background behind it. You really get to know the sailors, US and Japanese. Anyone else have thoughts on this book?

Thanks for the note. The book arrived a couple of days ago. I was planning on starting it when I finish Beevor's Spanish Civil War. Now I can't wait !!!

I've known about this reading Morison's book on Leyte over 25 years back, and the story is still my favorite. I'm reading "Last Stand" now finally after buying it from Amazon last year (hard to get time to read these days). With all of the "reality" that is possible with computer CGI in movies, this story is just screaming for a good director and an honest representation. After all, it's a story that Hollywood could not match even if it made the whole thing up (!). Certainly, the U.S. Navy's finest hour (or two)…
