This past weekend I ran two Combat Patrol participation games at the Fall In gaming convention in Pennsylvania. See photos and some text here: bucksurdu.com/blog/?p=4544

The rules were well received, the games were full of players, and the games went well.

Those guys behind the wall have NO IDEA how to use a Hula Hoop! Looking forward to reading the full writeup!

Buck,
Despite my bad luck, I had a great time playing in your Combat Command game. I think the card system works very well. I'm hoping my set of cards arrive shortly so I can get another game on the table soon.

If there is anybody in the Central New York area that wants to give these rules a try send me a PM or replay here with your e-mail and I let you know when we get together next.

Thanks Bryan. I'm glad you enjoyed the game.

The hula hoops, kill rings, whatever you want to call them. Are those something you find in sewing supplies? I would like to get some, but have no idea where to buy them.

Kill rings are at Walmart,Michaels,JoannsFabrics
Usually in the area that sells crafts/fabric

A couple of years ago, it was popular for girls to weave these small rubber bands into jewelry and other doodads. You can get them in bags in a variety of colors. See link

Buck

P.S. I hope you like the rules in addition to the rubber bands. :)

I am sure I will. I watched your video, and immediately ordered it. I am expecting the cards today.

Craft stores should have them. Ask for Rainbow Loom bands. It's a few dollars for more than you will ever need.

Glad to hear the games went well and were well received. My cards should be winging their way to my house as we speak. I've never ordered a print product from WGV until now. Not sure exactly how long their turn around is.

When I ordered copies of the cards before making them public, they took less than two weeks to arrive.

I think that their official name is curtain rings if you want the plastic or metal rings.

I think that their official name is curtain rings if you want the plastic or metal rings.

Those would be the hard plastic ones. More durable and longer lasting but more expensive (marginally) too.

If you want hula hoops, look in DIY curtain sections for Cabone rings. I have used them in the past as casualty caps.

I prefer the rubber bands for the looms, because they won't take the paint off the figures. As for durability, you get a bag for less than a dollar, so I don't worry about breaking one from time to time.

Dollar Tree is your friend – in the wedding favors section they have bags of gold and silver plastic wedding bands which are just perfect.

Also appeals to my (warped) sense of humor as once you get that wedding band on, your life is over…………..
