OK, so I haven't really paid any attention to Frostgrave. The basic concept sounded good, but it would be too much money for a game I would never play. Yesterday, when we met for our WWII Naval Annihilation game, fellow TMPer Bashytubits brought his Frostgrave stuff for me to look at, and very generously gifted me eight of the plastic figures. As any of you who have ever followed my modelling know all too well, I am physically and emotionally incapable of building stuff the way it was intended. So I pulled out my spare parts, and turned the intended fantasy Viking warband to a fantasy Greek warband instead. I also converted a few LotR Rohirrim to match (I'm not even sure Frostgrave includes cavalry, but if not they will be great for Song if Blades and Heroes, right?) Anyway, here are the initial builds. I just need to do some putty work on the neck joins and they will be ready to paint.

I'm not even sure Frostgrave includes cavalry Not yet. I could see exchanging some constraints on movement (foot soldier climbable terrain is off-limits, for example) for some speed and combat perks. I know others are looking at it. |

That's looking rather good Punkrabbitt, I'm all for a different take on the basic warband, but where are your magic users? a necromancer like the one on Jason and the Argonauts would be very cool. Cheers Roger. |

I think they look quite nice. The figures that I gave him were WGF Saxons and he took his own bits and put his own personal touch on them. Good job Punkrabbitt! |

One of the problems with just going balls-out and building stuff before actually looking at the rules is that sonetimes you get a bit of a group of figures that are awesome combatanta by the rules, but prohibitely expensive by the build system. I think a good number of thos left arms are getting replaced by shieldless ones before I start painting lol! |

Thank you, Bashy, but I think I am already capped for figure count on this warband :-) I have *many* others that need to be reworked, so it's all good. |
