The lovely model that warlord do. How far back is he suitable as a general? I am thinking about 1600 to 1620 as Spanish general. link |

The Warlord Games sculpt of the Earl of Essex is fabulous and I have one suitably painted up. For your purpose, I personally would use it as a Spanish general. Happy gaming. |

My only reservartion would be that many Spanish generals in that period would still be wearing the ruff, not the wide "falling band" collar. Apparently ruffs were abolished in Spain in 1623 – link – but for the first couple of decades of the century the ruff seems to have hung on in Spain while going out of fashion elsewhere. |

Well I might chop his head off and swap it with the Tilly miniature resplendent with ruff…thanks for the comments! |

Apart from the collar though, how far back does the armour go? |
